Support Trans Rights in Canada
Right now, in Canada, a country that prides itself on inclusiveness and diversity, it is still legal to discriminate against people for aspects of who they are due to the nature of their birth. Where, it is difficult for them to access housing, healthcare, employment and even protection under the law as the reason for the discrimination is currently not protected.
Bill C-279 seeks to “amend the Canadian Human Rights Act to prohibit discrimination on grounds of gender identity or gender expression, as well as amending the Criminal Code to include gender identity and gender expression as recognized group are motivated by bias, prejudice or hate.”
Everyone in country should able to feel safe, find housing, and be protected equally under the law. A country is best judged not on comfort of most secure and well off, but by treats the minority and marginalized citizens.
